My Little Rascal

Much as I miss the kids the whole time they're in school, the moment they get home is also the most 'critical.' Tired is an understatement.  I can't think of a word to downplay the chaos :D

After some time out, hugs and kisses, Leila finally sat down and made vanilla butter mug cake. If there's one thing that would bring her out of her mood it's cooking. I made this for myself in the morning so I know the recipe works well.

After making the mug cake, she also made popsicles out of strawberry Greek yogurt, cool whip and milk. Wait, I think I got it wrong she made the popsicles first because it's ice cream that can turn her mood 360 degrees (just look at the pictures!)

See the puffy eyes? Well, that happens when someone's been bawling her eyes out but then again, the popsicle making and mug cake did the trick (whew!)

So there's (ice cream, mug cake, cooking) on the how to make Leila happy again list. Making to that list as well--- STRAWBERRIES!

There goes my strawberries for my frozen strawberry daiquiri (haha!) but look at that face, she can eat them all as long as she stays jolly :D

Back to Posting About Food

I am BACK! I have been sick for the past few days so no shopping for me just sleeping all day long. Hopefully, I'll be up and running on the weekend just in time for the $1 flip flops at Old Navy!!!

I may have been too lazy to blog but I have been taking pictures of food I have cooked for the past few weeks. Here are some delicious meals we've had, enjoy lookin' :D

flattened bread on the griddle
no longer messy version of piggy in a blanket
chicken macaroni soup
tuna cheesy omelette
it doesn't look pretty but this is delicious :)
sauteed green beans with pork
sauteed spinach with bacon bits
meat sauce over eggplant
Sisig
Lechon Kawali
our weekly dose of sizzling beef
Pork in Tamarind soup with spinach
store bought frozen pizza when Mommy is having a lazy day or busy with her coupons
kids' favorite snack/dessert
first try of Mug cake was a failure :(
Strawberry banana muffins

No matter how busy I get, I still make time (I try) to make something delicious for the whole family. Now that the kids are on summer break, I need new ideas for their meals and snacks. I would love to bake more if only I knew how :D

A Very Sweet Afternoon

Heavenly Crepe

My second attempt in making crepes proved to be more successful. It was thinner, has a more perfect shape and really prettier than my first crepe. This afternoon, we had strawberry banana crepes for snack. I filled it up with strawberry jam and banana slices topped with a scoop of strawberry marble ice cream, more banana slices, jam and chocolate syrup. They were soooo good that for a moment I thought I was in heaven :D

Banana Split
As if the crepes were not enough, hubby followed it up with a banana split!

Crepe-D into my Sleep

I woke up from a power nap with absolutely no idea of what to cook for dinner. What's on my mind however was all about dessert. Sometime during my sleep I decided that I will make some crepe to partner with strawberry marble ice cream and that's what I did after cooking a real quick pork dish. I couldn't wait to start on the crepe and was about to start dessert since hubby was still sleeping but he woke up just in time so we ate dinner first. Halfway through dinner I started eating small bites of the crepe, my excuse? Lei finished dinner earlier and I was encouraging her to eat dessert :D

Update on My First Apple Pie

My apple pie tasted better the next day compared to when it was freshly baked. I was afraid it's going to end up in the trash but Mark heat it up in the microwave and served it with ice cream. All of a sudden I'm brimming with pride and joy again and it all sank in, I successfully baked my first apple pie and we finished it! I am definitely going to make another one.
